Consortium Status

BioAPI Specification

In addition to the Consortium’s last published version of the BioAPI Specification (Ver 1.1 dated March 2001), the standard has been adopted by the following formal standards development organizations:

1. ANSI INCITS 358-2002, American National Standard for Information Technology – The BioAPI Specification (Version 1.1, US national). See 1.1 Version Description for more details.
2. ISO/IEC 19784-1:2005, Information technology – Biometric application programming interface – Part 1: BioAPI Specification (Version 2.0, international). See 2.0 Version Description for more details.

These standards can be obtained from Version 1.1 Purchase and Version 2.0 Purchase.

Many products, applications, and tools have been developed for Version 1.1 of the standard Products and are beginning to be available for Version 2.0 as well. BioAPI Consortium

Having completed its development work, the BioAPI Consortium today provides a conduit for information and resources related to the BioAPI specification and its adoption.

The BioAPI Consortium has in the past coordinated the sponsorship and development of developer tools; and downloads. While funding is no longer available to support continuous development of such resources, previous Developer Tools and Downloads are available.
